  1. What is assessment tax?
    • Assessment tax is a tax charged on any proportional asset holding situated in Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council (KKMC) area

  2.  What is the purpose of assessment tax?
    • To finance the operating costs, and services and development administration, carried out by KKMC to provide the facilities and comfort to the residents in KKMC area. This is in line with the objective of KKMC to be the planner, developer, maintainer and area administrator, and as an agent of change and development of the socio-economy in the local area by providing an efficient and effective service.

 3.  What is the difference between Assessment Tax and Quit Rent?     
   

     a)    WHAT IS QUIT RENT?


      Quit Rent is the tax that must be paid by the Land owner to the State Authority through the Land

      Office. The Quit Rent must be paid in full on 1 January each year and will become an arrears

      beginning 1 June each year.


     b) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ‘ASSESSMENT TAX’ AND ‘QUIT RENT’?


     Assessment Tax is paid to the Local Authority and must be paid twice a year. The assessment tax

     bill is blue in colour. Quit rent is a tax charged on privately-owned land and must be paid once a

     year to the State Authority. The quit rent bill is yellow in colour.
